Back to back newborns yesterday and both around the 3 weeks mark and both did SO GOOD!!! Usually around (well passed) 3 weeks the babies become more alert - which is what parents love, however for the same of newborn photography and capturing the "newborn" baby, it starts to get trick the older they get.
After 3 weeks, baby acne starts (well technically that starts around 2 weeks). But the babies won't curl up as much as they are used to being stretched out and out of the womb free to move around. They have also gained weight and even the texture of their skin has changed. As a foster mom of newborn babies I can tell you that the FEELNG of their cheeks is completely different between day 4 and day 10! So imagine 3 weeks?
While I LOVE an image with their beautiful eyes open, I'm also about the curly cute poses which require a newborn to be asleep. And the key to posing a newborn baby is safety. There are certain poses I will not do with an awake baby because of how wiggly they are and how much they move. So after attempting to get some sweet eye-open poses, we leave the rest of the session up to baby falling asleep.
Gosh I love newborn photography. So very much! I wish I could photograph a baby every day!
