In the midst of all this chaos with COVID-19 (the coronavirus) there are many MANY people in the world literally fighting for their lives with a multitude of diseases. This little baby boy was born perfectly healthy (or so they thought).
When he was just about to be sent home, the doctor remembered one last test they had forgotten to do before discharge. Though that forgetfulness could be frowned upon - this doctor literally saved this Childs life by remember this very important test that changed everything. They discovered Samuel had TAPVR - Total anomalous pulmonary venous return....
This is a rare congenital malformation in which all four pulmonary veins do not connect normally to the left atrium. Instead the four pulmonary views drain abnormally to the right atrium by way of an abnormal connection.
If this wasn't caught (and very well could have been missed as it took FIFTY cardiologists to see and diagnose it)...this child would have potentially lived to around age 5 at which time when they found it (if he lived that long and IF they then found it) - it would have been too late to fix. This is my understanding of it.
So at three weeks old, he's just needing to gain a little weight before he gets his open heart surgery to put all the pieces where they belong.

In Childrens hospitals they now start a beaded necklace for kids and they can add beads for many many different things such as being in hospital on holidays, birthdays...but even more...for every scan, needle poke, blood being drawn, test, ECG, ECO...chemo treatment the list is ENDLESS....these children get a bead.
Samuel is only 1 month today....and LOOK at his necklace already!! These little one's are true warriors going through legit hell and back and they don't even understand why.
In the midst of corona, and fighting, and toilet paper hoarding...let us remember GOD is in control...GOD has the final say...and GOD is with EVERYONE!! Especially these little fighters.
Please pray for Samuel. For his parents. For strength for mom and dad to hold it together and pray for the medical teams out there who work endlessly on these little humans to do life-saving measures!
