When I was first asked about photographing this newborn session and mom requested a special COVID image, I of course, had to know what happened and why? Was it because of the time we are living in and just to capture the mess of 2020 for babe to look back on? Was it because mom knew someone who had it or died from it or was close to and suffered the symptoms? The answer was shocking and this baby (and mom) are truly miracles!
Mom's symptoms of COVID started March 25. She went into the hospital April 1st due to shortness of breath...and when she was tested - it came back positive.
Imagine being pregnant, hearing the horror stories of COVID-19 and then being told you HAVE IT?? Especially at the time when the World Health Organization was so up and down and back and forth on what would help, what doesn't help, isolate isolate isolate...and the death toll rising. Her heart must have just dropped.
Fast foward - she was brought to the medicine unit where she spent the night before being transferred to the ICU. They tried another treatment in ICU and it didn't go well..and mom was then put on a ventilator and was intubated for 8 days! She spent a total of 16 days in the hospital while they closely monitored little babe's heart beat.
Lynx was born at 35 weeks & 6 days. He was in NICU for just 2 days to stabile his blood sugar levels and on CPAP for a short time.
Here we are - mom is healthy (thank God), Lynx is healthy...AND her other children all have their mom and baby brother - literal MIRACLES!!!!
So...I was happy to do a special image to show his survival of this insane time. Would love to take credit for the idea, but saw it on ETSY as a template...and thought...no, I'll do it myself and make my own special backdrop for this special baby boy.
It wasn't as easy as it looked to get the toilet paper to cooperate LOL!
